Weekend wrap up
Post weekend wrapup - I did everything I set out to do but finish the irrigation (which I might do before the sun goes completely down). I'm pretty exhausted from hauling a 100lb tree around though.
All told, I probably spent 3 hours a day for the last five days and about $500 worth of plants, soil, and supplies to take it from bare patch to almost done shade garden. I'm having mulch and gravel delivered tomorrow so it might be done completely by tomorrow night.

That is beautiful! And I totally feel your pain. Except for the tree part. Me and my mom totally re did the flower beds in front of my house. We had to take out the marbel chips... a truly horrifyingly difficult endevor. Never again will I ever use marbel chips in my flowerbeds.....EVER! but we had to take them out of the side flower bed, and the front. We extended the front bed about a foot. put down a weed barrier, fresh topsoil, mulch and we planted lots of pretty flowers. It looked wonderful!.... until some mischevious rabbits got into the snak grass plants. -_-; *sigh* Oh well, atleast the plants didn't gie, and they're growing back. =D
That looks great!
very nice! Now, want to come pout here and do mine? (ducking..)
That is gorgeous. We have a very similar side yard that is in disarray. I think I'll be marking this for the Spousal Unit.
wow! that's amazing...
Side yards is FER TRAILERS! Nawt shade trees!
The other side of the house is big enough for a trailer. This is the neglected narrow side.
The curving path is very nice.
What a great transformation. I love gardening projects like these. But then I have to maintain it... and then I lose interest. And then I figure, why not tear it up again and start over. And then despair sets in.
That's the beauty of drip irrigation systems. You set them up once, and you can basically forget about them for a while. In a month or so I'll check for small weeds, and other than that, there's not a whole heck of a lot to do as long as everything gets watered.
obviously living in place that gets precipitation...sigh.
